With GST being rolled out from the midnight of June 30 or July 1, India would usher the most ambitious tax reforms since Independence. No doubt, the GST is going to re-write the script of the way we do business in India. It would certainly be a game changer in the long run. While there is an excitement, there are going to be some challenges and hiccups in the initial phase of implementation.
To shed some light on the subject, Digital ASSOCHAM invited the Chairman of the ASSOCHAM Special Task Force on GST and National Leader Indirect Tax, PwC - Pratik Jain. Mr. Jain spoke on a number of issues such as the sentiments of the industry, the benefits to be accrued, the concerns of the industry and the requisites for a smooth transition.

On the occasion of the International Yoga Day, Digital ASSOCHAM had the privilege to meet the Chairman of the Joint Yoga Committee for ASSOCHAM and Ph.D. Chamber of Commerce - Dr. P. K. Sandell. 
Yoga can be the answer to many of the problems faced by the different echelons of Industry in India stated Dr. Sandell. It is cheap and accessible and does not require any material input, he added.
Dr. Sandell also talked about the origins of Yoga and the initiatives that ASSOCHAM is undertaking for the propagation of Yoga.

Mr. Sandeep Jajodia, 50, is a result-oriented leader with a vision to achieve milestones in the industry and sports with a passion for improving the quality of country’s human resource. He heads a well diversified Monnet Group of companies with interests in steel, coal and real estate. Born in Kolkata, Mr. Jajodia grew up in Delhi and went to St. Columbus School and the Delhi University for his honor’s degree in commerce. Endowed with a business park at an early age, his entrepreneurial skills helped him build Monnet Group. Banks are feeling constrained by the new RBI norms for NPAs. This was said by the Director, External Affairs, Power2SME – H. P. Kumar. He was speaking at the ASSOCHAM’s conference on Smart Financing for Smart SMEs in New Delhi. 

He added that since the situation demands such measures, the banks must follow the rules. Addressing the gathering Vice President for Business Development, Capital Float – Vaibhav Singh observed that humans accumulated and stored enormous data during recent years. 
He added that today lenders can leverage all sorts of data to better assess the creditworthiness of prospective clients. Also present on the occasion was the Regional Head – North for SMEs, Hero Fincorp – Parminder Singh Cheema who noted that the there was great demand for finance for SMEs. Govt to set up 20 State Cancer Institutes and 50 Tertiary Cancer Care Centres - Anupriya Patel, MoS, Health and Family Welfare

The government of India plans to set up 20 State Cancer Institutes and 50 Tertiary Cancer Care Centres. This was revealed by Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel at ASSOCHAM’s Women’s Health Confluence on Prevention and Cure of Cancers and Thyroid Disorders in New Delhi. The Minister added that the biggest challenge in combating Cancer was early detection and outlined the government’s approach to the problem. Addressing the gathering President of ASSOCHAM – Sandeep Jajodia stated that women’s health should be a priority for India. He observed that many cases simply go undetected due to ignorance about the symptoms.
